Where the figures come from

A collector reads the public publishers every thirty minutes and stores what they published verbatim: buy and sell, the market (official or street), the city where given, and the page link. The collector holds no database credentials; it posts what it read to an API that validates first.

Published time vs collection time

Every figure carries two dates: the time the publisher itself stated (observedAt) and the time we read it (collectedAt). We use the publisher’s time whenever they state one. A figure older than six hours is labelled stale rather than quietly aging.

New lira and old lira

The lira was redenominated 100:1 on 2026-01-01 and old notes ceased to be legal tender on 2026-07-31. Some publishers still print old lira (13,200 = 132 new). We store what they published with its currency generation, and divide by 100 for display. The "as published" column stays visible so the original never disappears.

How the median and the gap are computed

The median is taken across publishers, not rows: two cities from one publisher are one opinion, so each publisher contributes the mean of its cities. When only one publisher is up we say so instead of implying a median. The gap is the street median against the same day’s official rate; when no bulletin is published that day the cell stays empty rather than repeating yesterday.

What we do not publish

We do not collect a rate from a source we cannot point at publicly. We refuse any figure outside a sane band (in new lira: 50-500), because it is almost always a parse error or another currency. We do not move money, sell currency, or take a commission from anyone listed here.

Corrections policy

A mistake is corrected as fast as we can and stays visible: we do not delete a figure we published, we add the correct one and say what happened. The full history is downloadable as CSV so any reader can check us. If you see a wrong figure or a missing source, write to us and we will correct it.
